AHSC is passionate about helping our companions do what matters most to them, whether it's fighting cancer, walking their dog or exercising their right to vote.
Anita's Story
For the past decade, I have been providing senior care in and around my hometown of Oxford, Ohio. Looking for part-time income to supplement my small catering business, I became a caregiver for a local agency. It was a tremendous learning experience, and while I enjoyed my clients, I felt limited and knew I had more to offer. Many of my catering customers naturally became care receivers, and before long I was providing senior care full time.
Since then, I have had the privilege of caring for many residents throughout the Oxford community, building not only a reputation for dependable care but also meaningful, lasting friendships. With the encouragement and support of family, friends, care receivers, and the Oxford community, I founded At Home Silver Care to provide compassionate, non-medical companion care to even more families.
There is such a great need for companion care for those who are beginning to struggle with the challenges of daily living. It is my passion to make each day a little easier, a little less confusing, and a little less lonely. Whether sharing a meal, reminiscing over memories, taking someone out for a milkshake, helping them navigate a difficult diagnosis, or simply sitting quietly and holding a hand, every companionship has taught me something about kindness, friendship, and purpose.
Building the Future Together
As At Home Silver Care has grown, Mike Stahr joined the company as co-owner, bringing decades of business, leadership, and technology experience. While Anita continues to focus on the day-to-day operations of the agency, both owners share the same commitment to providing exceptional care for every client and family they serve.
Anita oversees the daily operations of At Home Silver Care, working closely with caregivers, coordinating schedules, managing payroll and client billing, and ensuring that every client receives the personal attention they deserve. Building relationships has always been the foundation of the company, and she takes great pride in personally knowing both clients and caregivers.
Mike develops and maintains the company's technology systems, including its web portal and caregiver management database, while also helping guide business strategy and future growth. He participates in client consultations, hiring decisions, caregiver support, and works alongside families to resolve challenges whenever they arise. When staffing needs require it, he also provides companion care himself, giving him firsthand experience with the same work performed by At Home Silver Care's caregivers every day.
Together, Anita and Mike believe that outstanding senior care requires more than dependable caregivers. It requires trust, communication, compassion, and a commitment to continually improving the way they serve clients, support caregivers, and strengthen the communities they call home.
Although their responsibilities are different, every important decision at At Home Silver Care is made together. They share the same philosophy - every client deserves to be treated like family, every caregiver deserves to be respected and supported, and every family should have confidence that their loved one is receiving compassionate, dependable care.
